Interviews Print E-mail

Interviews are an integral part of the Oxford admissions process. If shortlisted then you will be asked to come down to Oxford at some point in the fortnight beginning 5th December, depending on when your subject is scheduled for interview. More information about interviews can be found on the Oxford University website, here.

The interview process isn’t easy. Its design is to find the very best students who show the greatest aptitude for learning. They’re not necessarily just about knowing stuff though. Whilst actual methods vary from subject to subject, what the tutors are looking for most is potential and the ability to apply good thinking to perhaps unusual questions or situations. This doesn’t mean that the interviewers are looking to catch you out or trip you up, nor are you going to be subjected to one of the many oft-quoted interview myths. From experience, the most important thing to do is enjoy the process and not to worry about it too much, either before you come or whilst you’re here. Being interviewed at Oxford isn’t an experience that everyone who applies here gets, but whether you’re successful in it or not it is an experience that stays with you once you’ve been through it.

During your time being interviewed at St. Peter’s, a team of current students will be present to show you around, help you settle in and answer any questions which you may have. We look forward to seeing some of you in December.
